Greg Sommers
MEET THE FOUNDER
For more than 20 years, Greg Sommers has worked directly with students, educators, and school communities. His work has taken him into classrooms, student groups, staff trainings, leadership experiences, and school-wide events, giving him a firsthand view of what helps people participate, connect, and grow.
As the founder of The Core Project, Greg develops curriculum, facilitates experiences, and works alongside schools to strengthen relationships, support students and educators, and create more connected school communities.
Greg is also a Licensed Professional Counselor. His clinical background influences the way he approaches this work: with curiosity, directness, respect for the individual, and an understanding that meaningful change often happens through relationships and experience.

MORE THAN 20 YEARS IN THE WORK
Greg learned to facilitate by facilitating.
Greg has spent more than 20 years working with groups of students and adults. School assemblies, small groups, staff trainings, leadership programs, classrooms, retreats. Some groups are ready to participate. Others take a little more convincing.
Over the years, Greg has developed his own approach to bringing people together and getting them involved. He pays attention to the details: how an experience is introduced, the questions that follow it, when to keep things moving, when to let the room sit quiet, and how to respond when things don't go as planned.
There is a lot of intention behind what can look pretty simple.
That experience has shaped much of The Core Project. It is built into the way Core Day is facilitated, the way Core Lessons are written, and the way Greg works with educators.
And after all these years, he still sees himself as learning.
I realize and accept I am a work in progress…not who I was, and not yet who I will become, and I welcome the task.

Greg works directly with students, educators, and school teams through facilitated experiences, training, and individual counseling. The setting varies, but much of his work comes back to bringing people together and creating experiences that are useful, engaging, and worth their time.

Facilitating Student Experiences
Greg works directly with students through Core Day, student leadership programs, retreats, and other facilitated group experiences. Each experience is designed around the students, the setting, and what the school hopes to accomplish.
EDUCATORS + TEAMS
Facilitating Staff Experiences
Greg works with school staffs, leadership teams, and other groups through professional development, retreats, and facilitated experiences. Topics often grow out of the real challenges schools are navigating, including relationships, staff connection, communication, educator well-being, student engagement, and school culture.
INDIVIDUALS
Counseling for Educators
Greg is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and provides individual counseling specifically for educators, men, and adolescents (14+). This work is separate from his school-based services and offers a private setting for Idaho-based educators to work with Greg one on one.
