CASE STUDY: DAVIES HIGH SCHOOL
Fostering Emotional Growth in Special Education
Situation
Educators in the Special Education department at Davies High School in Fargo Public Schools reached out seeking strategies to equip students in their Life Skills classes with the social and emotional tools needed for success both in school and beyond. Their goal was to support small groups of students in processing emotions in healthy, constructive ways.
Solution
After evaluating various options, educators chose Core Lessons for its relevant and engaging content, designed to spark meaningful conversations and guide students in exploring the decision-making process. The program is integrated daily into Life Skills classes, supporting small groups of students navigating emotional disturbances, autism, and other health challenges. Combined with restorative practices, Core Lessons helps students build social skills, improve behavior, and remain engaged in school.
Outcomes
Teachers have observed that students genuinely enjoy Core Lessons, with its implementation making a positive difference in the school community.
